Solway Elementary School's Mission Statement
“Our mission is to work in partnership with families and community to increase student achievement. Our vision is to provide a supportive learning environment that empowers students to become creative thinkers and problem-solvers, and inquisitive, self-directed, life-long learners in a culturally diverse global community. We expect our students to be respectful, responsible, and honest and to strive for academic excellence.”
What is Title I?
Title I is a federally funded program, whose goal is to meet the academic needs of all students and to provide quality education that support academic standards. Solway has a school-wide Title I program that provides services and programs for the entire school. Being a school-wide Title I program assures that Solway interventionists will continue to help meet the needs of our students. As a result, all of Solway's students are held to the same high expectations.
Being a school-wide Title program also allows Title I money to be used for educational programs and resources that will improve our school as a whole. Trainings for teachers, professional development, student materials, student support and Title I staffing are all examples of how Title I money is used.
If you would like to learn more about our school-wide Title I program, feel free to contact your classroom teacher, Minnesota's Education Department, or the U.S. Department of Education. You can also contact Ms. Heather Sande, our Title I coordinator/interventionist. Her school contact information is on the "Contact" page of this website.
